Of all the Blouberg markets, the Milnerton flea market must be one of the most well-known and diverse outdoor markets for bargain hunters.
Although it is no longer officially in Blouberg, it is now located along Marine Drive in Paarden Eiland, very close to the Lagoon Beach Hotel in Milnerton. Some of you may even remember its humble beginnings as a regular car boot sale at the site of the lagoon mouth at Woodbridge Island that eventually became a flea market.
Milnerton flea market is possibly the most unique of all the Cape Town flea markets, with all kinds of bric-a-brac, militaria, antiques and collectables on sale, as well as various other kinds of utensils. For the avid gardeners, there are always various plants on sale at bargain prices too.
If you’re looking for a way to enjoy a leisurely afternoon outdoors with the scent of the fresh sea air, the child- and pet-friendly Milnerton flea market is just a short drive away from Blouberg and is open on Saturdays, Sundays and nearly every public holiday.
The fresh scent of the sea may well stimulate your appetite too but not to worry; there are various food stalls to choose from, including mouth-watering seafood and other confectionery delights. Try Rose’s Bakery for their delicious baked goodies early, before they sell out.
The walkways at this flea market are broad enough for prams and wheelchairs with public resting benches and seating at most of the food stalls, as well as clean, wheelchair friendly public toilets.
If you’re new to the Blouberg area, or just on holiday, make sure you visit this popular flea market before the winter weather sets in.
